This is my first blog post of our Complete Home Renovation here in Spokane, Washington. A little history on how this renovation came into play....
Construction, Real Estate, Architecture, "flipping," Staging, Renovation.... these were all common and very frequently used words in our Household. We bought our first home in Spring 2007, with the intent of putting all of those words in play, and what a learning experience it was!! It took us 4 years of accumulating tools, tearing out walls, sanding floors, finishing basement, designing and building what may have been missing, every extra penny we made into getting a finished product that was sold off for someone to move in and appreciate all of our hard work and enjoy the spaces that were transformed.
What was next for us....? An even bigger challenge! We went from a 2,000 sq. foot 1950's home to doubling in size. Built in 1911 and 4,000 sq. feet of disaster in every room. Keep in mind, we live in our projects as well, but before that could happen we had to replace all of the corroded and unusable plumbing and rats nest of electrical wiring first. Our inspector was amazed the house hadn't burned down long ago. The other essential you need is heat. We thought the Ornate Cast Iron Radiators would be beautiful after the couple inches of accumulated dust and animal grime had been cleaned and sanitized off of them! So we filled the oil tank, serviced the furnace, cleaned the Radiators and cranked the thermostat! Within minutes, Spraying water in the Bathroom, drips coming out of the box beams in the living room... and who knows where else water was leaking but it was a mad dash to get it shut down immediately!!!
Wide eyed and panicked for potential water clean up and damage, we realized quickly, "What now?" If we try to find the leaks in the pipes, we will be up against tearing all the lath and plaster out of this house to dig deeper into the unknown. So we went to a quick fix, the biggest wood burning stove we could find! Little did we think initially, that ended up being our heat source for 2 years!! It definitely had it's charming times but more so, it was like camping..... in your house.... Enough was enough of that and we knew it was time for a more permanent fix. Like everything else a complete overhaul, Brand new furnace and ducting ran throughout. What a difference.... It's amazing how you really don't think of these items in your home when they function well. We felt so spoiled and special when we heard the sound of the quiet blow of the warm air out of the vents... It was like Christmas Morning!!!
Okay, on to the pictures!!
I will probably jump around a bit, as that is about how we do projects in this house. Get one project about 95% finished before we are inspired and jump to start the next project...
The upstairs bathroom was the first overhaul...... I know the picture is a little blurry, so I want to point out that is a black trash bag was taped to the wall, to cover the broken tiles and leaky tub.
Down to the Studs we go.....
This picture is a view from the downstairs bathroom ceiling looking up into the floor of the upstairs bath room
New Wiring and Plumbing.
Relocated Tub/Shower to another wall
Putting the bathroom back together after drywall, I Searched Antique Stores for an Old Dresser & Mirror to Re Vamp (Before)
And After a Little Sprucing Up..
.... and the finished products....
Still need to Decorate the Toilet Wall....
Just learning how all of this blogging works so please bear with me. Any comments or suggestions is also greatly appreciated for the many more pictures and stories of our Renovations to come !!

None, Taylor is awesome!
Taylor was fantastic! She is professional and informative, but also funny and entertaining through what can be a stressful, sometimes tedious process. She's straightforward, which was confidence inspiring. I was really happy and surprised at how quickly Taylor would respond to any questions or issues 24/7. as first time home buyers, she made us feel informed and secure each step of the way. I can't recommend Taylor enough!! Carrie Solomon
I don't now, but I will recommend Taylor to anyone who mentions an interest in buying a home.
